Moroccan Earthquake
Donation protected
Dear Friends
We are Mark & Ayelen, from Scotland and Argentina respectively. We live in Essaouira, Morocco with our two children. On Friday night we jumped out of bed as the earthquake hit and waited for our house to fall down. It didn't but we were the lucky ones.
The earthquake in Morocco on 09 September 2023 has flattened hundreds of villages in the mountainous Atlas region of the country. Four days after the quake many of these villages are still not accessible by road. The process of helping the survivors will be long and difficult but a small amount of money can go a long way towards helping those affected rebuild their lives. With winter just around the corner we must move fast.
Your donations will go towards rebuilding houses and schools (it takes approx £2,000/€2,200 to build a small family home from local materials) and the acquisition of clothing, blankets and medicines.
At The Serai we raced outside as the earthquake struck but were lucky enough to escape any damage. In some of these villages they didn't have time to even get to the door and the devestation is almost 100%. Please give generously.
Thank you
Mark & Ayelen
