Atlanta Artist Relief Fund

Atlanta Arts Supporters, Artists, Family, Friends:

My name is Rob Brooksher and I am an Atlanta-based theatrical designer.
With the rise of Covid-19, our Atlanta theatre community and the theatre community at large is facing an existential challenge the likes of which I haven't seen in my lifetime. As the number of infections increase, we gain clarity that "the show must go on" is not be an appropriate response to the outbreak. Broadway has announced a hiatus on all shows, most touring companies are announcing the same, and more and more states are banning large public gatherings. All theatres in Atlanta have closed their doors for weeks, if not months. In addition to this campaign, if you have the means, I urge you to donate whatever you can to your local theatres, most of whom operate on a budgetary tightrope even under normal conditions. This is why I'm hoping we can get this ball rolling to ready our response before it is too late.

Most theatre artists in Atlanta live on a paycheck to paycheck, gig to gig basis and have to supplement their art with a second and oftentimes third part-time job. It's the nature of the society we live in, and bettering that situation is a fight for another day.
Many of these artists have found themselves out of work, and as the infection rates continue, we have members of our community under quarantine, unable to leave their house and unable to earn an income. To many ATL artists, this has been and will continue to be a devastating financial blow.

Now, let's get down to how you can help:
With your financial help , a group of Atlanta artists have assembled to ready a relief task force to help our community weather this storm as best as we can.

Where your money goes (First Steps):
- Purchasing of food supplies for a frozen meal prep volunteering group that has created over 300 meals for those who are quarantined or financially in need due to being out of work, delivering nutritious food and supplies to the doorsteps of those artists who are in financial need.
- Purchasing of necessary essentials for artists in financial need (pain medications, fever reducers, electrolytes, etc)
-Gas reinbursement for those volunteers who run meal trains to the quarantined.

Our Facebook group, Atlanta Artist Emergency Relief Volunteers has over 1500 members, where our group has organized daily virtual reach outs, faith gatherings, children's storytimes, you name it. If you do it in person in your real life, an artist on our page has probably created a way for you to do it virtually!

All withdrawals and money spent will be shown with receipts in the updates of this group and our Facebook group. Any larger purchases will only be done with the democratic vote of the group.

Please visit our Facebook Group, Atlanta Artist Relief Fund @
if you are interested in volunteering to deliver meals and supplies and feel free to email me personally at if you have any questions.

The theatre community is full of the toughest people I know, and together, we will weather this storm.

Thank you for your support,
Rob Brooksher
