Atlantic Affair Rowing the Atlantic Ocean
Donation protected
In December 2025, we will be taking part in the annual World's Toughest Row (previously known as Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge) to row unsupported across the Atlantic Ocean for two of our favourite charities, Project Seagrass and Alexander Devine Children's Hospice Service. The challenge will have us rowing 3000 miles west from San Sebastian in the Canary Islands, to the English Harbour on Antigua and Barbuda.
We are Atlantic Affair, a team of four ordinary friends joined together through the love for rowing and longing for adventure. We all met through Maidenhead Rowing Club and instantly became good friends. With a combined 18 years of competitive rowing experience, we were all looking for a new type of challenge, so when one of us threw the idea in the air – “let’s row the Atlantic” – there were no hesitations.
Known as the world's toughest row, the race will put us face to face with the elements, pushing our physical and mental boundaries to the limits. We will be rowing around the clock, in 2h on / 2h off shifts, whilst battling ocean storms, 40ft waves, exhaustion, sleep deprivation and sea sickness.
Rowing across an ocean is no easy feat and our journey does not stop nor end with the crossing itself. To reach the start line, we need to raise ~£45 for every mile that we will be rowing (a total of ~£135k) to cover all the necessary costs associated with our challenge. We cannot accomplish our goal without your help. Although donations of any amount are welcome (and none are too small), we have prepared some suggestions below.
- £ 10 sponsors a single meal
- £ 20 sponsors multiple meals
- £ 50 sponsors one mile
- £ 100 sponsors two miles
Upon our return from Antigua, we will donate all proceeds from the resale of our boat and equipment, in addition to any surplus money raised directly to Project Seagrass and Alexander Devine Children's Hospice Service.
Will you help us make this dream come true?
