Atlanta LGBTQ History Project Exhibit Fundraiser

Help us share Atlanta's LGBTQ history.

One year ago this November (2021), in celebration of Transgender Awareness Week, we launched this project with a panel discussion on gathering, sharing, and preserving Southern trans history.

Since then, we’ve been busy.

We recorded 9 oral histories.

Photographed 12 of our honored subjects.

Applied for and won 2 grants to further our work.

Brought on 4 student interns from Atlanta universities and high schools.

Delivered 5+ talks about our work to organizations, universities,

and businesses.

Partnered with 10+ community organizations on activities & programs related to LGBTQ+ history.

Hosted an all-LGBTQ+ cabaret showcase, where we raised over $2,500 to preserve and share Southern LGBTQ+ history.

In October 2022, in celebration of Atlanta Pride Month, we were proud to launch our inaugural exhibit, Out Down South, at The National Center for Civil & Human Rights. The exhibit, which features portraits and stories of 12 notable LGBTQ+ Atlantans, is free to view and is open to the public through September 2023.

Our team is small but mighty. We’re passionate about gathering, sharing, and preserving Southern LGBTQ+ history. There is so much more to be done to ensure the world knows our stories, and we’re excited to help further that work with the Atlanta LGBTQ+ History Project.
