SUPPORT NEW LATVIAN POETRY: ATLAIDAS/ES.

Hello everyone! Let’s dive right in! I’ve always loved poetry. But mostly gravitated towards the odd stuff. Poems that know no boundaries and have no restraint. Poetry with unstable structure.

Recently I started writing my own. With the help of my mentor, the esteemed Latvian poet Modris Mednis (and family) as trusty spiritual guides, I put together my first collection over two years ago. It was called Cik es atceros. Vai punktiņi. ("How much I remember. Or tiny points.") And Elīna Kokareviča of The University of Latvia  said it was a “very peculiar poetry book.”

I’m excited to announce my latest book of poems Atlaidas/es. This new collection is about empathy, misplaced and imagined memories, and all sorts of endings.


It probably comes as no surprise to you that publishers aren’t clamoring to put out books of American-Latvian micro-poetry, that is why I am seeking support to cover the costs of publishing this book myself. All funds will go toward paying for printing, design, artwork, marketing and shipping. I have set the funding rates in such away that you are, in effect, pre-paying for the book.

When it comes to publishing, I value design almost as much as I value words and this collection will be no exception. Atlaidas/es. is a 72 page perfect bound volume with various color pages/plates featuring work by the artist Kevin Mercer. Kevin is an accomplished illustrator and printmaker based in the Philadelphia area. 

The book has been designed to be a convenient pocket size volume measuring in at 4" x 7" inches. It contains over sixty new, never before published micro-poems and it will be printed in a limited and numbered edition of 200.

• All funders who pledge $10 or more will receive a copy of the book when printed.

• All funders who pledge $30 or more will receive a copy of Atlaidas/es. when printed, as well as a copy of Puķes. Vietā. ("In place. Of flowers." my 2nd book of poetry) The book is hardbound and was limited to one printing of 200 copies.


• All funders who pledge $100 or more will receive, all of the above, plus a limited edition 11" x 17" full color poster (on archival paper) with the cover image by Kevin Mercer.

• Organizations or individuals who donate $250 or more will receive a logo or boldface name mention in the book. The $250 donation will also receive the two books, and a limited edition poster.

• All funders will be named on a thank-you page in the finished book.

If requested, the book can come with an English language translation sheet. But the book itself is written completely in Latvian.

After the book is printed it will be available for sale online at the Dzejas Veikals store .

Esmu mīlējis dzeju kopš bērnības...bet tādu dzeju, kas nāk no "neparastās zōnas".

Esmu mīlējis dzeju kopš bērnības... dzeju, kuŗai nav robežu... kuŗas izteiksmi neierobežo tradicionālā dzejas forma... Man patīk teksts kuŗam struktūra plīst pušu.

Pirms trim gadiem, ar atbalstu un ieteikumiem no dzejnieka un garīgā padomdevēja Modŗa Medņa, es izdevu savu pirmo dzeju krājumu Cik es atceros. Vai punktiņi.  Elīna Kokareviča (Ubi Sunt ) to dēvēja kā "visnotaļ savdabīgu."

Šī grāmata varbūt arī ir visnotaļ savdabīga, bet šoreiz drūmāka gan, pilna izjūtu, pazaudētu un iedomātu atmiņu, un dažādiem gala punktiem un beigām.

Kā varat iedomāties, grāmatu apgādiem nav liela interese izdot Amerikas latvieša mikro-dzeju. Tādēļ meklēju atbalstu paša izdotai grāmatai: Atlaidas/es.

Ziedojumi palīdzēs kārtot rēķinus drukāšanai, noformēšanai, ilustrācijām, izplatīšanai un pasta izdevumiem. Mans mērķis ir, lai šī akcija ir īstenībā tāda kā pirmiepirkšanas programma.

Mani ļoti interesē dizains un drukātas grāmatas, kuŗas neatrodas diģitālā pasaulē.

Atlaidas/es. ir/būs 72 lpp. grāmata, ar mākslinieka Kevin Mercer  vāka zīmējumu un dažām pilnkrāsu lappusēm. Kevins ir Filadelfijas ilustrators/mākslinieks.

Grāmata veidota, lai tā viegli derētu kabatā (4" x 7" izmērā). Grāmatā būs vairāk kā 60 jaunas dzejas. Metiens nepārsniegs 200 eksemplārus.

• ziedojot $30 vai vairāk dabūs Atlaidas/es., kā arī vienu Puķes. Vietā. (mana otrā grāmata) kopiju. Puķes. Vietā. ir ar cietu vāku un izdota tikai 200 eksemplāros.

• ziedojot $100 vai vairāk dabūs visu iepriekšminēto, kā arī  (11"x17") pilnkrāsā drukātu plakātu uz archivālā papīra ar Kevin Mercer grāmatas vāka zīmējumu.

• ziedojot $250 vai vairāk organizācijas un indivīdi dabūs savu zīmolu vai vārdu iespiestu grāmatas īpašo ziedotāju sarakstā.

• visu ziedotāju vārdi parādīsies grāmatas "paldies" lapā.

Ceru gatavo grāmatu saņemt 2016. gada augustā, lai varētu sākt jau grāmatas izplatīšanu uz vasaras beigām. Grāmatu varēs pasūtīt/iegādāties Dzejas Veikalā .
