I am Seth Mayer and I am walking a thousand miles for a single mom with cancer and her children.


“I would walk a thousand miles for you.” Is a phrase that we’ve all heard repeated time and time again; it is a phrase most of us have even said. On July 6, I begin to fulfil that promise.

Alissa is a friend, a mother and a victim of Cancer. For a long time, she held down two jobs to support her five beautiful children. Being a single mom had challenges enough; then she found out she had cancer.  Since then, her health has deteriorated to the point where she has lost her jobs and now it is her children who sometimes have to care for her.  

The American Cancer Society studies show that the average lifetime care of cancer can be more than $400,000. 


I am going to help in the only way they can. They are going to walk 1,000 miles as a charitable, sponsored hike to raise funds for her family. The money will be mailed to her for her and her family, to ease any financial stress. The Hike will begin at Echo Lake in California on Monday, July 6 at 8:00 a.m. (PT) and will follow the Pacific Crest Trail for 500 miles to rhe North. The other 500 miles will be done locally around my community of Misdle Tennessee. 

Seth is a friend of Alissa from High School. All funds will be sent to her upon my return from walking the thousand miles for her to use as she wishes for her family.  GOFUNDME charges a fee, but 100% of the money recieved will be mailed to her when I get home.

1 penny per mile = $10 donation
5 cents per mile = $50 donation
