Athlone India Covid Appeal

India recently surpassed Brazil to become the world’s second worst-hit country in the COVID-19 pandemic. A second wave of infection is currently sweeping through the country and is considerably more infectious, and deadly, than the first. It is getting worse day by day.
As COVID-19 continues to spread, more individuals, communities, and entire nations are feeling the impact in their daily lives. We have set up this fundraiser in aid of The Hope Foundation charity. HOPE are on the ground in Kolkata offering real support to people.

The government hospitals in Kolkata cannot cope with the new surge of cases and HOPE Hospital has now reopened its 10 bed COVID ward and converted 2 other wards to COVID wards. Right now they have 52 beds for COVID patients – all those beds are full.

The urgent need for medical supplies, basic necessities, and quality healthcare is only increasing as more communities become affected by COVID-19. India continues to report record daily rises in coronavirus cases as it battles with its second wave of COVID-19.  The results of this wave are devastating. 

As a community, Athlone has benefited from the large Indian community in our region.  We would like to show our support and come together as a community to fundraise for a charity providing real assistance on the ground.

We are urging businesses to get involved in this fundraiser and we would like to suggest that businesses match fund donations given by their employees. So if you are an employee of a match funding business make sure to reference the company so we can track donations for match funding. Athlone based company Sidero will match funds donated by their employees and we urge all businesses to get on board the match funding proposal if possible.
