Hello!

My name is Jana — I’m a Latvian theatre director, dancer, and teacher. When I was 19, I moved to the UK to study theatre at the University of Warwick, which was a grand achievement at that time - an education that opened a new world of theatre, inspiration and ambition. Since graduating four years ago, I lived and worked in the UK, creating, performing, and teaching. Last year, I took a leap and followed a long-held dream: I moved to Avignon to study at the Jacques Lecoq International School of Theatre, one of the most respected schools for physical theatre in the world.

I managed to fully fund my first year’s first trimester — covering both tuition and living expenses — through hard work and savings. For the remaining tuition fees, I applied to the Latvian national arts fund, but after three rejections, I now need to raise the final 5,400€ on my own in order to complete the year.

This training has been transformative. Lecoq has shaped me not only as a theatre maker and performer but also as a collaborator, listener, and human being. My movements have become more intentional, my vision sharper. I now see the world as something alive — full of rhythm, tension, colour, and potential.

I want to take what I’ve learned and:

The 5,400€ I’m raising will go directly towards my tuition for the second and third trimesters. All funds will be transferred to me and paid to the school before the end of June.
