HI EVERYONE!
Anna’s Rescue & SanKtuary (ARS) has launched a Go Fund Me Fundraiser to support the recovery of our newest rescue pup, Athena!
Athena is a 7 month old Greek Shepherd Mix, and we are hoping to raise $5000.00 CAD to support her ongoing medical costs.
**No raffles, sweepstakes, giveaways, or returns on investment are offered in exchange for any donations made to this GoFundMe**
Athena was found near the border of Macedonia abandoned with her 7 litter mates in a cardboard box. When rescued, Athena and her littler mates were under 10 days old, and unfortunately, proper medical attention was not locally or fiscally accessible. While local rescuers did everything they could, only half of the litter survived and were nursed by a surrogate mother. When we heard this story, we knew we could save Athena and arranged for her to come to Canada thanks to our previous fundraiser!
Two weeks before Athena’s travel, a hygroma was discovered near her elbow, which was surgically removed before her flight to Canada. Unfortunately on arrival, we noticed that Athena’s wound was not healing as expected. This meant that we needed to act fast, as proper medical intervention would prevent Athena from being at risk of infection, a potential leg amputation, or worse.
Thanks to our friends at Doncaster Animal Clinic, we have saved Athena and set her on a successful path to recovery! This said, Athena’s recovery is extensive and expensive, placing unforeseen costs on our rescue. Currently, Athena needs daily bandage replacements, an array of medications, and limited activity. On top of this, Athena is awaiting a spay procedure which is contingent on her recovery. This will likely take two more months. While we are grateful to have saved Athena’s life, her recovery costs are an ongoing, rising expense which is why WE NEED YOUR HELP!
If you feel so inclined, we would heartily appreciate any donations our community can offer Athena. ANY AMOUNT YOU CAN OFFER IS APPRECIATED, and 100% of all donations will directly support Athena’s medical costs. We are seeking $5000.00 CAD to support our rescue in managing Athena’s medical costs so that she can be as healthy as can be for her eventual forever home!
DISCLAIMER: Anna’s Rescue & SanKtuary (ARS) was launched in December 2024. We have achieved great things in our first year — though we are working diligently to expand our capacity and funding to work towards greater initiatives. At the moment, Anna’s Rescue & SanKtuary is entirely volunteer based (including our rescue leaders) and we primarily depend upon community partnerships, volunteers and our Adoption Fees to fund and support our initiatives!
In an effort to be transparent with our community and donors, we will be including some examples of Athena’s medical costs and invoices our rescue has incurred. We have redacted and blurred all personal information from these documents. Atop of this, we will be offering updates on Athena’s recovery to our donors as well — subscribe to this fundraiser to receive those updates!
Moreover, if you would like to ADOPT ATHENA, all adoption inquires can be made BY EMAIL ONLY to [email redacted]. Your donations will help us get Athena as healthy as can be for her eventual forever home!
Thank you so much for your support! If you don’t have the means to donate, PLEASE SHARE ATHENA’S STORY!
