Help Athena Vincent McBride Aman get her surgery

Donation protected

Recently our dog Athena went to the vet for a limp she's had off and on--she's an Australian cattle dog mix and fetch is her life. So we thought she was just overdoing it once in a while. But a trip to the vet and the orthopedic specialist has told us otherwise. So Athena needs to have a procedure called TPLO (tibial plateau leveling osteotomy) on both of her knees. If she doesn't have this, her arthritis will make it very difficult for her to get around. With the surgery, the vet is optimistic that she'll have 80-85% mobility in each leg.

The problem is that the surgery isn't cheap. The estimate is 5,800-6,800 per knee. (This doesn't include 300 dollars in Xrays post-op or the rehab fees...which she will need after each surgery.)

I know the world is on fire right now, and it feels weird to ask for help, but she's our dog--a part of our family. She's been an amazing companion who has brought our family a lot of joy. She loves hiking, fetch, going to the dog park, and stealing your spot on the couch. I want her to be able to keep doing all these things for as long as she can.

Right now I'm focusing on the first surgery estimate of 6,800. I understand if you can't help--it's been a rough couple of years for a lot of us. If you can chip in a little or send this to a friend, that would be great.

Thank you from our family to yours.
