Athan & Chris’s Stockton-On-Tees to Dunbar Fundraiser
We’re walking over 120 miles—from Stockton-On-Tees to Dunbar, South-East Scotland—to raise money for a cause that means the world to us: Cystic Fibrosis.
This journey is personal. Athan’s fiancée, Abigail, was born with Cystic Fibrosis and has bravely battled this condition her entire life. In 2018, Abigail’s health took a serious turn when she caught the flu. Her lung function dropped to below 15%, and she was in desperate need of a life-changing drug called Kaftrio. At the time, it wasn’t available in the UK.
In 2019, her friends and family launched a GoFundMe campaign—Abi’s Army—to raise money in hopes of accessing the medication in the USA. But just as they were making progress, the pandemic hit, and all international travel was halted.
Then, a miracle. On March 18th, 2020, Abigail received Kaftrio from the RVI Hospital in Newcastle. It changed her life. Since then, she’s continued to thrive and inspire everyone around her.
Now, Athan and his friend Chris want to give back by raising funds and awareness for others living with this challenging condition.
What is Cystic Fibrosis?
Cystic Fibrosis is a rare, inherited genetic disorder that affects the lungs and digestive system. It causes the body to produce thick, sticky mucus, leading to chronic infections, breathing difficulties, and complications in many organs. There is no cure—yet—but treatment can make a life-changing difference.
Symptoms can include:
• Persistent coughing with mucus
• Frequent chest and sinus infections
• Shortness of breath
• Difficulty gaining weight
• Salty-tasting skin and growth delays in children
Abigail’s story is just one example of how vital early intervention, treatment access, and research are. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to helping those living with Cystic Fibrosis enjoy longer, healthier lives.
Please support us on this journey—whether by donating, sharing, or cheering us on as we take on this challenge.
Thank you for reading and for standing with us.
With love and gratitude,
