In May 2024, a devastating accident shook the Ellis-Brown family. Over the last 10 months they have poured everything they have into Lila's recovery from a traumatic brain injury. For 5 of those months, Lila was at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), and then the Holland Bloorview Children's Rehab Hospital in Toronto.

Since October 2024, they have been back at home, while continuing with several outpatient therapies through CHEO. Lila has shown incredible resilience and is doing so well and still making great progress. However, they have reached the end of the road of what the public healthcare system can offer her. Medical professionals have explained that the first 18 months after a traumatic brain injury is when the most gains can be made so we don't want to stop now! She now needs to continue private rehab therapies (including physio, speech, vision and occupational therapy) in order to complete this healing and rehab process.
