Acquisition of Precious César Franck Manuscripts

For the past five years I have devoted much of my musical activity to researching, editing and retelling the history of César Franck's works for organ and harmonium. This has resulted in the publication of an eight-volume edition with Lyrebird Music, which has received international acclaim as the leading publication of its kind.

Much of the edition is based on original source material, and a unique opportunity has now arisen to acquire two of César Franck's nine choral manuscripts (Choral II and Choral III).

Such an acquisition does not come without an immense responsibility. As custodian, I intend to study these scores in greater depth than ever before, to promote engagement with them at home and abroad through public events - especially with organ students - and, in consultation with colleagues, to ensure that they find a place in an institution of international renown in due course.

£30,000 from other sources has already been earmarked. Any support you can offer - large or small - towards the remaining costs of this historic acquisition would be greatly appreciated. Every donor will be recognised in future updates to volume I and will receive professional photographic reproductions of the manuscripts.
