Just after Thanksgiving in November 2020, Gretchen started getting a severe pain in her shoulder. She went to the doctor and had X-rays done and the doctor said that she was suffering from “frozen shoulder”, if you know Gretchen you know that she doesn’t stop moving or doing something, she’s ALWAYS on the go. So this diagnosis didn’t make much sense. She continued with her day to day activities, but the pain kept getting worse and moving from her shoulder to her leg and then to her back. On Christmas Day she was in bed dealing with unbelievable pain coming from her back and leg. On December 26 she was taken to the hospital because her pain was so bad. The ER doctor diagnosed her with a thyroid condition, her thyroid wasn’t producing enough hormone, so she went on thyroid medication and came home. For the following couple of days she was back and forth  to the doctor office AND to the hospital again only to be told the medication needs time to work. The doctor ordered an ultrasound to rule out a blood clot in her leg, which she didn’t have. On Thursday January 7th She was brought  back to  the FOURTH time to the hospital because she couldn’t even walk anymore because she was in so much pain. It was there on January 7th that we got the news nobody wants to get... Gretchen has cancer. Cancer in her spine, liver and both kidneys. Our world just fell apart. How can a woman who is as strong as Wonder Woman have cancer and HOW did so many doctors miss this?!? She took this diagnosis and was determined to beat it, but as hard as she fought she unfortunately didn’t have a chance and sadly passed away on January 29, only three weeks after being diagnosed. Gretchen was the sole provider in her household and was very proud to go to work every single day to a job that she LOVED! She took care of everyone always putting other’s needs ahead of her own. Please help us give her a wonderful Celebration of Life and to help  pay for her medical expenses.
