Historic 15 M Post Around The Bay

Only $3,000 is needed for a bench with an Around the Bay theme, to complete highlighting this historic 15 Mile post  of the Hamilton Herald “Around The Bay Race” first held on Christmas Day 1894.

City of Burlington Heritage, Burlington Runners, The Bay Race  and numerous private donors have  committed over $12,000 to date.

The Burlington Runners Club with the endorsement of the Heritage Committee of the City of Burlington is working to :
    - Make the marker prominent on the Around The Bay race route.
    - Provide historical information about the posts role in the oldest footrace in North America.
    - Create a setting for the post that encourages people to stop and learn its history by proving a bench and potentially an art piece reflecting the markers history.
