Fighting for Kelly Evans

Donation protected
Kelly is a 5th grade teacher at Daphne East Elementary School and has been teaching for 23 years in Mobile and Baldwin County combined.  Kelly took her students to a math competition on Saturday, February 23, 2019, in Spanish Fort.  By that afternoon, she was in terrible pain and thought she pulled a muscle in her back.  She ended up having to call an ambulance at 4:30 AM Sunday because the pain was so severe.  She was in the ER at Thomas Hospital, and they did a CT scan, blood work, and urinalysis.  Everything came back fine; however, she was still in excruciating pain on Tuesday, so we made her an appointment with her general doc on Wednesday.  The doc said she just needed to stay in bed because it was “just a pulled muscle”,  and per the doctor, she also had contracted a virus because she spiked fever and was throwing up which did NOT help her situation.  Her brother Kris has been amazing spending every hour of every day to take care of her as well as Dan (her fiancé) and I trying to take shifts to give him a little break in the evenings.   By Wednesday evening, she started feeling tingling in the top of her feet, and by Thursday at noon, she had lost all feeling from waist down.  Again, the ambulance came and rushed her back to Thomas Hospital.  They did an MRI and found a mass on her spine.  The mass was pressing on her 2-7 upper vertebrae, and they rushed her again by ambulance to Springhill Medical Center.  She had emergency surgery Friday morning, March 1, to remove the mass.  She is still in the hospital as of today, March 8,  and has been moved to the 2nd floor which is the rehabilitation floor in order to receive intense occupational and physical therapy.  She is there until she can function by herself on a daily basis.   Kelly has started to have some movement in her toes and left leg, but she still has no feeling waist down.  She is unable to work for the remainder of the school year, and I am setting up this Gofundme to help her be able to pay her bills and all of the medical needs that are to come, including the changes that will have to be made to her home to accommodate her specific physical needs.  She does not have disability insurance and no more sick days as she has had to already take all of her sick leave from the sick bank.  If you are able to donate days to her, please do so!!  I just wanted to inform you all of the devastating situation she is going through and the desperate help financially that she needs.   If you can find it in your heart, please donate to my best friend and fellow teacher!  Kelly took amazing care of her precious and disabled momma Charlotte Evans daily for ten years putting her own wants and needs to the side.  She is still planning to marry the love of her life, Dan Lippincot, God willing, and I want their dream to come true!!  Please help me help her, and if you are unable to donate financially, please pray for Kelly daily!  She is such an extraordinary woman and has touched so many students’ lives!!  If you have known Kelly, you have been loved by her unconditionally!  She is absolutely one of the most selfless people I have ever met!  Let’s help one of our own leaders in our community, please!!!
