I was inspired to start rescuing kittens after previously volunteering at the Cornwall / SDG Humane Society. Each week as I was volunteering, I would watch as people would bring in kittens who were later all euthanized simply because they were under a certain weight and certain age. Surprisingly it's standard "policy" in majority of shelters, this shelter was no exception. They don't have a proper kitten care program in place, I tried everything in my power to get them to allow me to foster these kittens until they were old enough to get vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and spayed/neutered and adopted. I was continuously a bunch of invalid excuses and ignored. It was NOT related to a lack of money because I offered to pay for all the necessary supplies to help save some innocent lives. EVERY single one of those kittens that entered the shelter deserved a chance to live, which is why I have started my own rescue. I want to spread awareness on how shelters unnecessarily euthanize babies as standard "policy". My goal is to help change their policies. In the meantime I've started this rescue, a safe place where kittens will get the chance they deserve. I've helped save 15 kittens in 3 months, 10 of which have already been vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, spayed/neutered and adopted to amazing forever homes. As funds are super low, I would truly appreciate any type of donation so that I can continue to help save babies and raise awareness.
