Asymptomatic Web Series - Arnett House Donation

Donation protected
Seeking to create and connect through unparalleled times, 6 young creatives came together (largely via Zoom), to create, film, and produce Asymptomatic, an original 5-episode web series, in their hometown of Rochester, NY.

Over the past 4 months, this passion project has evolved into a nearly complete web series set for online release in January 2021. Our tight-knit team has worked hard to produce a quality project safely and efficiently, and as we near the final stages of production, we are humbly seeking your support!

Keeping production costs low has been a priority in order to make this dream a reality. We’ve managed to do so though generous gifts of time, talent, and film locations from local collaborators. That being said, equipment, crew, and film festival submissions add up, meaning we have some fundraising to do!

At the same time, it has been a privilege to create during the pandemic. Recognizing this, it is critical to our entire team that our project’s impact extends beyond viewership. One of our many goals through this series is to join in media efforts in centering and normalizing a vast range of gender and sexual identities. Bringing these realities to the screen through authentic representation and character development has been a priority throughout this process. This goal, coupled with our desire to give back to our Rochester community has led us to partner with The Rochester Center for Youth’s newly established Arnett House.

Each year, 1.6 million youth experience homelessness, and unfortunately this number is only exacerbated by the pandemic. Additionally, 40% of homeless youth identify as LGBTQ+, despite only making up 7% of the general youth population. This disproportionate impact highlights issues of family rejection, homophobia, transphobia, violence, victimization, and more. The Arnett House provides emergency shelter, long term housing, and supportive programs to LGBTQ+ homeless youth- the first of its kind in Rochester.

We have set a $500 fundraising goal in which 60% of funds will go towards our production costs, while 40% will be directly donated to the Arnett House. Your contribution will help to bring this project to life while directly supporting LGBTQ+ youth in Rochester, NY.

Thank you in advance for your generous support- we simply couldn’t do without you. For project updates and more information on the series itself, check out our Facebook page (Asymptomatic), website, and follow us on Instagram, @asymptomseries :)
