With broken hearts, we share the sudden and devastating loss of my brother, Antonio Eugenio Hernandez — lovingly known to many as Tony or Buda. He passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 21, 2025 in Dayton, Texas and our family is now facing the overwhelming task of bringing him back home so we can lay him to rest with love, honor, and dignity.
Tony proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 19 years. He stepped up during one of our country’s darkest times, answering the call to serve in the war following the 9/11 attacks. His service to this nation was marked by courage, loyalty, and sacrifice. After the war, he suffered from PTSD and fell into a deep depression which caused him to be discharged from the navy. But even more than a sailor, Tony was a gifted artist, a gentle soul, and one of the kindest, most humble people you could ever meet. He had a heart of gold and a spirit that touched everyone around him.
Our father is retired, and our mother is 100% disabled. Because of this and the sudden nature of Antonio’s passing, we are not financially prepared to cover the high cost of transporting his body and giving him the memorial he deserves. That’s why we’re reaching out — to ask for help from anyone who knew him, served with him, or simply understands the pain of losing someone you love.
Every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward bringing Antonio home and providing a respectful and heartfelt farewell. If you’re unable to contribute, please share this fundraiser and keep our family in your prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
We have to wait 12-14 days for him to be released to my parents to be brought home after his autopsy. The total cost for his body to be brought home and cremation is around 4-5k. My dad is only living on ssi and my mom has brain cancer and has not been able to work since 1999. My dad has been the sole provider and I want to help put my mom at ease and say good bye properly to her first born son.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your love, kindness, and support. Funds will be used for the cremation, urn and shipment of my brother home
