Hello beautiful people!!

This is a birthday fundraiser for our lovely friend, Asuka.

My name is Chie. I am fundraising on behalf of her.

Asuka is turning 50 on September 9th this year.

This is very exciting for her and her friends like me.

My 50th birthday is coming up soon, and my wish is to receive a birthday gift which I’ll appreciate for my whole life and I’ll get to tell everyone the story of how I got my eyes from my friends and family for my birthday! And the biggest benefit is since elementary school, I have been wearing eyeglasses, and after the operation, I will say goodbye to my glasses forever!

Yes, I would like to have eye lenses as my birthday gift (5$-10$ donation) which are inserted into my eyes for my early-age cataract surgery at the end of this year or early next year. lol.

Not surprisingly, and good to know, this is not covered by most medical insurance in Canada, and it costs a lot. The first estimate was $2500 for each eye, and so I freaked out and came up with this fundraising idea. Then, my specialist told me that I could receive it for half the price, and then I felt somewhat relieved. So, it turns out that the surgery itself is covered!

So,I thought it would also be good to save money now for eye lenses, hearing aides, and dentures before I enter my senior life. All of these things have pretty high costs.

Regardless, I love my idea and I want to keep it because my friends and family have been giving me birthday gifts over the years, but I don’t really need anything more in my tiny room. Honestly, I don’t need any gift, and I will just be so happy to see you on my birthday, especially if I haven’t seen you in ages! Luckily, I also have friends all over the world and I often dream about meeting you again as soon as I can.

Sadly, all my blood relatives live in Japan, and I lost a few of them in the last two years, so my friends who are all around me are who I count as my family.

I appreciate all your time. You are my valuable friends and family despite the fact that maybe we don’t meet that often. Nevertheless, I keep my friendships and family values in my life.

50歳の誕生日記念に、目が欲しい〜！

基本自分で、誕生日会を開催するカナダ方式の誕生日が面倒で、ほぼ毎年誕生日の日は、メキシコに行ったりと逃げ回っていたら、いつのまにか50歳の誕生日が回って来そうです(50歳もっと、大人になってると思ったんだけど、ピーターパン症候群なのかなぁ〜？)

カナダでは、盛大に祝う40歳の誕生日も、祝えずにいたので、友達達の協力の元、50歳の誕生日をバンクーバーなどで出会った大切な友達達を呼んで、お誕生日会をする事にしました〜。既にその中で、誕生日プレゼントに何が欲しいかを聞かれて、正直、50歳になるにあたり、色々断捨離をしたい私としては、形に残る物は特に不要で、年齢の割には早い白内障の手術が年末か来年年明けにあるので、その時に入れるレンズ費用の手助けがあったら凄く助かるし、何たって、一生自分の目を友達達や家族達から‍‍貰ったんだ〜って、誇りに思えると仲の良い友達の1人、ちえちゃんに伝えていたら、ファンドレージングを立ててくれました、感謝。

ちなみに、白内障のOpe自体は、バンクーバーでは、全額無料だけれども、レンズ費用がほぼ実費で、大体の保険会社の保険が効かずに、最初に言われた費用が、両目で53万円と言われて、痛い出費〜でも、必要不可欠〜と思いました〜。最終、25万ぐらいで、抑えられそうなので、ホッと胸を撫で下ろしました〜❗️そして、小学生の頃から、掛けてきた度数の高いメガネとは、おさらば出来ることが、最大級のメリットです‼️

＊年齢を重ねていくと、どうしても必要になって来るかもしれない白内障手術、レンズ、補聴器、入れ歯費用は、職業柄、知ってはいたけど、今回、痛感させられたので、みんなも来る時の為に貯金しといてね。

正直、プレゼントは、特に問題じゃ無くて、家族が出来たりして、遠くに引っ越した友達と久々に再会したいのと、日本とか世界各国に戻って住んでる友達達に、近いいつか会いたいなあ〜と常日頃思っています。今年の夏は、その一つが実現出来ました〜、ありがとう。

自分の子供もいない人生なので、人生後半戦は、生活費高騰で、余儀無く引っ越さないといけない以外は、仕事とプライベートが両立出来るカナダで、楽しく働きながら、友達達の子供達を可愛がり、自分の趣味と少しずつ色んな国に訪れたり、ボランティア再開させて、自分自身で機嫌を取りつつ、後悔の無い彩りある人生を謳歌したいと思ってます。
