ASU Rugby Organization was formed to establish and maintain contact for the hundreds of former ASU members and friends, to promote activities for the benefit of the membership and support men’s rugby at ASU. The ASU Rugby Program is not-for-profit corporation that is incorporated as a group of the ASU Alumni and business leaders.
We are taking the opportunity to update our supporters on recent events. ASU Rugby was sanctioned and ordered to silence by ASU and USA Rugby for a CIPP (USA Insurance registration) violation that resulted in the unregistered player being involved in on field violence.
USA Rugby and ASU have concluded their investigations and have provided punishment to ASU rugby. The punishment is harsh but ASU Rugby is working through the issues and believes it will be better off in the long run.
To prevent any further administration slips and to improve the overall interaction with our program ASU Rugby has hired Kylie Wheeler to be the ASU Rugby Manager. Kylie will make sure the team is compliant with all regulations and make joining and being part of ASU Rugby a more seamless and enjoyable experience. The outcome is a more professional and viable Rugby Club.
The ASU Rugby Board is shifting our focus to:
1. Support management role financially
2. Support management and coaches with resources and management
3. Fund Raise for scholarships and team expenses
As we enter the fall season it is important to set the club up structurally and financially. We are asking for all our Alumni, parents, supporters and players to help us re-establish the club structurally and financially. We are conducting this fundraiser to support the changes and management role the club has just hired.
Gary Lane has retired from the club and we are entering a new phase of hiring a new head coach and bringing our past coaches back on board. You will be notified of game dates and practice schedules. Our new President is Bailey Stringer and Vice president is Alex Walsh.
