Hi, my name is Astral, and I’m a queer non-binary BIPOC living in Reykjavik/ Glasgow. I’m asking for support after surviving an abusive, destabilising situation that left me unhoused, traumatised, and financially vulnerable, within a space that should have been safe.
My ex-partner, a white Icelandic trans woman, took advantage of my insecure housing situation, encouraged me to move into her flat, and subjected me to emotional manipulation and cruelty. She repeatedly triggered my BPD - sometimes publicly and used my mental health against me to assert control.
During a verbal conflict that could have been resolved with care and understanding, she chose to escalate by calling the police on me. As a racialised individual in a white-majority country, this put me in real danger. Thankfully, my interaction with the police was positive, but being placed in that position was deeply traumatic.
Her actions ultimately rendered me homeless. And in the chaos of moving out, one of my bags, containing over £300 ( 50000 isk ) worth of valuables, was lost, adding financial strain on top of emotional harm.
I've also been struggling to find stable employment throughout my time in Iceland, and this experience has only deepened that instability.
I’m raising £2000 to:
Cover basic living expenses as I seek work, housing and heal.
Replace lost belongings
Access trauma-informed therapy
If you’re part of the queer or abuse survivor communities, or simply someone who believes in care over punishment, please consider donating or sharing this. Every bit of support means the world to me.
With care and resilience,
Astral
