Astral Finnie and Halo Byrd

On Tuesday May 16, 2017 Astral Finnie, her daughter Halo, and Astral’s mother lost their home, and the majority of their life’s possessions, to a fire that burned their house to the ground. 

Astral and Halo drove home after school to their block cornered by a dozen police cars, fire trucks, and the realization that their home had caught on fire. The fire began in the garage due to faulty electrical wiring and spread from there. They’ve lost most of their possessions (furniture, clothes, photographs, keepsakes, toys, games, musical instruments, etc.)  What wasn't burned has been determined “totaled” by the experts because of smoke and water damage.  It will take a minimum of 5 months before their home is rebuilt.  In the meantime, they are living in a hotel and will begin looking for a more "permanent" temporary housing opportunity; hoping they’ll be back in their home by the holidays.

We are thankful that they are safe; however, it will take months to recover from something like this.  There will be additional costs not covered by their homeowner’s insurance, plus deductibles, etc.  Please help us offer them a community shoulder to lean on as they recover physically, financially, and emotionally from this devastating event.
