Good afternoon everyone,
I wanted to share something personal with you today. Over the last two months, I’ve been training hard for a big challenge — a 100-mile cycle organised by Peebles Cycling Club on September 20th.
The reason behind this ride is very close to my heart. I’m taking on this challenge to raise funds for Astley Ainslie Hospital, who played an incredible role in supporting my friend Paul Masterton during his recovery from two separate strokes.
Paul was the one who introduced me to photography during the Covid pandemic, and without his encouragement, I wouldn’t be on this journey of sharing the beauty of nature with you today.
In preparation, I’ve cycled a total of 723 miles with 18,533 feet of elevation! To put that into perspective:
♂️ That’s the equivalent of covering 83% of the UK from Land’s End to John o’Groats.
⛰️ Or climbing Ben Nevis — Scotland’s highest Munro — 4.2 times!
I’ve been in touch with the hospital and will soon share details on how to donate and sponsor me for this event. Any support, no matter how small, would mean the world — not just to me, but also to the hospital that makes such a difference in people’s lives.
Thank you all for following my journey, and I’ll keep you updated as the big day approaches!
This is a map of the route that has an overall elevation of 4,493 feet including the Wall of Talla with an avg gradient of 8.4% and 18.3% for 100metres.
