Hello All,
My Name is Lupe and I am starting this fundraiser for one of my older brothers who recently had a stroke.
On Saturday May 26th my brother was taken to St Jospeh Hospital, he was experiencing multiple symptoms from migraine, lightheaded, fatigue, vomiting and blurred vision. When he arrived to the hospital he began to loose his vision. The hospital performed several tests from labs, X-Ray, MRI, EKG to performing a Spinal Tap. They would not figure out what was causing for him to get worse. At this point he couldn’t walk or talk, He didn’t have the strength to open his own eyes for more than a second. He was admitted for further testing. The morning of Sunday May 27th my brother Emilio was diagnosed with CVA(Stroke) affecting 3 different parts of his brain. In addition to that he had a ruptured artery and a blood clot. Unfortunately because of his ruptured artery and the bleeding they could not give any blood thinners for the clot. He was taken for a small procedure to remove the clot and was given medication for the swelling of his brain. He was being monitored every hour, On Monday May 28th early morning the neurologist said that they had to rush him into surgery to keep him alive. The swelling of his brain was increasing and the medications where not working so they had to Perform surgery for his brain to have room to swell. After almost 6 hours in surgery the surgeon and his team came up to the waiting area and informed his wife that the surgery has gone well, they had to place drain tube in his right side due to excess bleeding. They went on to give us more bad news; although the surgery went well the whole right side was affected and a part of his brain was dead. He would have trouble walking, balancing and posibly have no vision on the right eye. For over two week he was in the Neuro ICU with a drain in his head and unable to move, He was strained to the bed so wouldn’t touch his head. His wife became his own personal nurse, his rock and strongest supporter. His 8 year old son was unable to see him for 2 weeks. His recovery has not been easy, but with the help and support of his wife and family he has been doing very well. He gets 3 types of therapy 2-3 times a week for 3 hrs. He has been discharged from the hospital and is now at the comfort of his home being taken care by his wife. With the help of God he will keep getting up every time he falls and continue to work on himself.
This man is genuinely an amazing human. His faith for God is strong, he is a happy, generous, loving and compassionate. He is the sole privider for his family and due to the unfortunate circumstances and the long road to recovery he will be unable to provide for his family for a while.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance and May God bless you.
Sincerely,
Lupe
