Vidal's Medical & Prosthesis Fund

I am starting this page on behalf of my fiancé Eli’s 1st cousin Vidal Lopez, whom they call Vidalito. On Saturday July 9th Vidalito and a friend were driving in Mexico and were hit by a semi- truck. The car he was driving proceeded to go off the road and rolled over several times. His friend came out okay but Vidalito was taken to the hospital where the doctors informed his parents that his life “was in God’s hands now”. The whole family prayed throughout the night and to everyone’s excitement, he began to improve. On Monday July 11th, the doctors informed the family that if he was going to make it, it would be necessary to perform an operation to remove his right leg above the knee. Since the amputation, he had difficulty breathing without oxygen and there were talks of another amputation due to circulation problems. However, as of today, following a surgery yesterday in attempt to assist circulation in his remaining leg, he has been vastly improving, is off of oxygen, and no longer sedated. The hope of he and his family is that he will continue to improve into stable condition so that he can be transported to the United States for better care. Vidalito is eighteen years old, just graduated high school, and has his whole life in front of him. He has a very close family and a girlfriend that adore him and his sweet-natured personality. He’s a very active kid and has a lot of goals for his life. The problem is that since he did just graduate and turned 18, he has not yet enrolled in any type of health insurance. Therefore, any of the care he has already received and will receive in the future will have to be paid out of pocket. His parents have been very hesitant to allow anyone to start any fundraising efforts because they are hardworking individuals and do not want to feel as though they are asking for handouts. However, as outrageously expensive as health care is; doctor bills, lab work, surgeries, hospital stays, etc., it is imperative that we do this. My hope is that we can help raise some money for his medical bills, physical therapy, and future prosthesis so that when he is ready to leave the hospital, he can begin his life and achieve his goals. Any and everything will be greatly appreciated, no matter how small or big. Thank you in advance!
