Hospital stay, rehabilitation, and other bills

My name is Josh and I’m raising funds to help during my mom’s lengthy hospital stay and after care. She had surgery on September 29th and was recovering well until Wednesday October 4th. Her oxygen dropped to a dangerous level and was rushed off to ICU. After spending two weeks in the ICU, she’s been moved to a regular floor. She has a very long road to recovery and will be in the hospital for roughly 3 more weeks. She will be going to an after care facility to help regain her strength and to get her ready to go back home. Any donations will help us with transportation, food, and bills that will need to be paid during this lengthly process.

10/24 UPDATE: Mom was moved back to ICU 12 hours after being in a regular room. She’s having difficulties breathing and getting the proper oxygen to her lungs. She was placed back on the ventilator and the Dr’s are unsure when she will be coming off of it.

10/30 UPDATE: Mom took another turn for the worse on Thursday, October 26th. She had to be placed on a ECMO machine which is the highest life support you can get. It has been filtering her blood and placing the good oxygenated blood back into her body. Her X-rays have shown some improvement but her lungs are still badly damaged. She will also need to go through extensive rehabilitation once she gets out of the hospital to learn how to walk and get her mobility back after being in the hospital for over a month.

11/3 UPDATE: Mom had to have an emergency surgery in the middle of the night on Wednesday. We got to the hospital right before they took her back to the operating room. Her body started shutting down once we left at 7:00pm. This is caused from the heavy steroid she is on for her lung recovery. They removed a 1/4 of her large intestine. They also removed a portion of the small intestine which was severely damaged and compromised. They kept her abdomen open and they are going back in today to see if the other parts of the small intestine are healing. If not, they are going to remove more of the damaged small intestine which will be life changing. Dr said she has a 35-40% chance of survival and the next few days are going to be crucial that her body fights like hell.

11/4 UPDATE: Mom had her surgery late last night. The Dr. had to unfortunately remove 65cm of her small intestine as it had died from lack of blood. She is right at the minimum amount that is needed to be able to eat and drink in the future. She will be on a IV nutrition for the first few months as she recovers from the surgery. The next few days are going to be a crucial time to see if she is strong enough to recover from everything she’s been through in the past 72 hours.

11/7 UPDATE: As of 8:08PM tonight mom went to be with the Lord in Heaven. She fought so hard during the last 6 weeks. For those of you that knew mom you’d say she was a full of positivity and laughter. She would put a smile on anyone’s face at any given moment. For as small as she was, mom was strong, courageous, and never let any of her illnesses stop her from achieving what she wanted in life. ❤️❤️ If you all could please share this GoFundMe that’s been circulating to help with any funeral expenses would be greatly appreciated. Funeral arrangements are being made and will be scheduled for this Saturday. I will be sharing more information as I get things arranged tomorrow.
