On the 21st of September, my wife was taken to the ER for various issues that had been getting worse over the previous week. It was only at the ER that we saw she was jaundiced. She was admitted to the ICU for acute liver failure. She deteriorated quickly, needing to be put on an NG tube and a ventilator. Tests were done, and showed her liver was just getting worse.
Tonight, around 2:30am, I got a call from her ICU doctor asking me to come asap. Her blood pressure tanked, even on the max dosage of a med that was supposed to keep it up. I saw her eyes; they were open but vacant. I knew then she wasn't with us anymore. I authorized her to be put on pain meds and anti anxiety meds, and have the NG tube removed and taken off of the ventilator so she could go peacefully and with as much dignity as possible.
I don't know what the next steps are, but I know it can be costly. Donations here will go towards covering the anticipated costs that are going to come up because of this. I don't have a timetable, as this just happened. I originally made this thinking I'd have far more time.
