Hi, my name is Sarah and I am Zion's sister. Last Tuesday, 23rd September 2025, Zion was walking with his carer on the New Brighton dog beach and was struck by a dog chasing a ball. The impact of the dog hitting Zion's left leg caused a tibial plateau fracture (his kneecap area). This required surgery and a metal plate to be inserted. Zion has been very brave throughout this traumatic event and endured his first ever surgery!
Zion will be incapacitated for at least six weeks and his left leg will be non weight bearing during this time. He will, unfortunately, be bedridden for an extended period. During this time, he needs special equipment and extra support, and unfortunately, none of this is covered by NDIS, as it does not relate to his birth disability. We are therefore reaching out to his community for help financially to ensure he receives the best possible recovery and stays happy, healthy, and motivated through this challenging time of healing.
Hopefully Zion will be back to his normal self: painting, visiting his friends in this beautiful community, and returning to his normal routine soon.
Thank you in advanced and sending love to all.
