Many of you know our friend and neighbor, Andre Glenn, through his selfless involvement in the Arlington Heights community, particularly in his dedication to youth sports around his sons Andrew and Alex. Across all seasons, you can count on seeing Andre on the football sidelines, in the baseball dugouts, or on the basketball benches of Arlington Heights not only enthusiastically coaching his teams, but truly exemplifying and instilling in his players the most admirable qualities we learn from competition-- sportsmanship, teamwork, and perseverance.
In November of 2019, Coach Andre received the distressing diagnosis of a brain stem tumor. After undergoing a left brain craniotomy on November 18, 2019, it was determined that Andre has a glioblastoma (Grade 4 GBM). While Andre has recovered from surgery, he has also received many rounds of radiation treatment and oral chemotherapy, including double/triple doses of oral chemotherapy in March and April, with 4 more cycles to hopefully finish his treatment in August. He is also expected to receive emerging treatments for his tumor that will hopefully provide additional positive results.
Coach Andre is one tough North Carolinian and he is truly a shining example for all of us who seek to make our communities a better place, and to be a positive force in the lives of others. This is a tough battle and we know Andre is giving it everything he’s got.
The Arlington Cowboys Youth Football leadership team and the Arlington Heights Youth Basketball Association (AHYBA) has received numerous inquiries about assisting Andre in his fight. With permission from the Glenn Family, we have decided to establish this fundraising site to help defray the significant medical expenses that Andre’s treatments require.
Andre, Ann Marie, Andrew, and Alex have been very grateful for the support received from the community, in particular their local Greenbrier neighborhood…whether it’s been meals, gift cards, prayers or well wishes, it has been a great source of hope and encouragement in this battle.
For those in the community looking for an opportunity to support the Glenn family as they continue Andre’s fight, we hope you’ll consider utilizing this site to provide some assistance to ease the family’s financial burden.
On behalf of the Arlington Cowboys, the AHYBA, and the Glenn Family, we thank you all for your support!
