Hey everyone, Brazil needs your help. I’m Raianne, I’m living in california. Right now, Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil is facing the worst natural disaster ever. Floodwaters have engulfed multiple cities, leaving more than 844,673 people (05/05/2024 - CNN Brasil) in desperate need across 334 municipalities (the state has 496 municipalities in total), including Porto Alegre and Canoas (home town of my family and friends ).
Regarding the homeless who completely lost their homes, the number is greather than 18,000 already. There are now 115,844 people temporarily homeless and this number is increasing every hour.
People are dying, others are missing, and the situation is chaotic. Many civilians are stepping up as volunteers, but the scale of this crisis requires more support.
That's why I'm launching this crowdfunding campaign — because we need more help.
Those who are rescued are being brought to shelters set up in city sports clubs, schools, and other facilities.
Every penny we raise will go directly to volunteers on the ground in Rio Grande do Sul. We'll use the money to provide essentials like mattresses, bedding, food, diapers, and water to those who've lost everything.
