Donation protected
After a long illness, David Lewis Byrd Sr. has transitioned into eternal life on January 29, 2021 at 11:50pm. David was born on 6/15/52 in Troy, NY and was a graduate of LaSalle Institute where he enjoyed a stellar scholastic athletic career. David went on to perform at a high level on the football field at both Taft Junior College and at the University of Texas El Paso.
David worked for the NYS Department of Social Services for over a decade before retiring from General Electric where he worked to develop turbine engines.
David loved his wife of 45 years Faith, his son David Lewis Byrd Jr. and his grandchildren David Lewis Byrd III, Nadia Faith Byrd and Brooklyn Rose Byrd with all of his heart. Nothing made David light up like a wrestling match with David Jr. and David III.
David also loved his Buffalo Bills and developed a fondness for all Syracuse University athletics where David Jr. was a dual sport letterman in the late 1990's.
Details regarding the wake, funeral and burial arrangements are forthcoming. David was a true family man who looked forward to spending time with his wife, son and grandchildren. Family gatherings during the holiday season also warmed his heart. Many fond memories have been shared by those closest to David. He will be missed by all.
