Urgent Assistance to survive Personal Hardships & Tragedy
Donation protected
I write this to you all, my greater community, to ask for your assistance in a time of dire personal and familial need to reach a goal with this fundraiser of 15,000 at minimum.
I admit I have fallen out of contact with many following the loss of my mother last January.
That said, I owe many of you in my community heartfelt thanks for the assistance you all provided to contribute to our previous GoFundMe in the wake of that earth shattering loss for our family.
I write to you now asking for assistance following another monumental loss in my family as we mourn the loss of my eldest brother which tragically occurred on February 28th, 2025 - just a week and a half before the one year anniversary of our mothers homegoing services and four days before my birthday this year.
I had intended to write this GoFundMe prior to the loss of my brother as I faced a series of unfortunate events which suddenly and dramtically exhausted funds ahead of my planned return to work, which is now slated to begin in April.
Brief overview of exentuating circumstances and events:
Burden of Car loss:
My car has been out of commission since August 2024 and despite repairs compled nearing 4,000, the mechanic delivered me an unworking and in worst shape car than when I brought it in. All the while I have been maintaining car note without use of car for several months, costing in total over 10k to date and still no working car as I write this.
Extended caregiving for other family, during initial grieving process.
This journey too, now has come to an end with the passing of my eldest brother and I will say, I gave it my all as best as I could in my grief of no longer being my mothers caregiver. It was at times difficult but more so a blessing in so many ways.
Storage fire & added costs of temporary storage).
-In late August 2024 I was notified that a fire had taken place at my storage facility and subsequently had to temporarily rent a 2nd storage to situate after extensive assessment of unit and damaged items with damage assessment and clean up team.
Relocation after home privacy invaded, Following a break in at my house by my former landlord in August 2023, which was mediated and well documented with local law enforcement via bodycams providing 6 hours of overlapping video of the incident closure. The only silver lining from this situation was that the same night police responded I began staying with my mother during the last 5 months of her life and subsequently fully moved out of my home of five years after her passing in February 2024.
- This is a very deep chapter in personal housing injustice I experienced in recent history which could garner an entire book as it spanned 4 court cases, involved retaliation for renting a home which lacked proper heating and was unpermitted as an accessory dwelling unit at which myself (as sole resident for the entirety of residency) and partner of ten years faced discrimantion, slander/defamation in public, recorded countless hours of audio/video, hundreds of pages of exhibits/documentation, etc, etc.
- Alas I can not speak any further on legal matters as they stand with this situation to date. The time and effort alone it took was exhausting and a major drain in many ways during a time of dire circumstances surrounding care with my mother.
There were some other circumstances and delays which involve personal injustice since my mother passing that were both painful and financial strains I can not speak on further but wherein losses nearing 14,000 were suffered.
Despite the various challenges associated with loss of caregiving work, medical insurance, and primary income compounded with general grief, I remain hopeful and determined as I build back stronger and out from a strong, resilient, and principled foundation.
I stand here still ready to rise in honor of my loved ones who are no longer here and those present still as we all persevere in these difficult and uncertain times.
I have been on a very specific path in terms of goals and often do not share publicly of strides or challenges I have encountered. As I am generally a private person who remains quiet on matters concerning family and personal life I come to you, my community, sharing just a small amount of struggles and planned steps forward in hopes you can understand this is truly a major and transformative turning point in life for me.
Brief History and Words on Where I am Going...
I began my caregiving journey over fifteen years ago and held it close to my heart in mission and vision as I was also dearly supported by my mother to find my purpose along the way. It was primarily close loved ones and memories of joy and overcoming major obstacles in caregiving journey with my mother which provided solace and comfort to continue.
Not long after my mothers homegoing services, I completed an accelerated and extensive nursing program exactly 5 months and 1 week week after losing Ma.
I have also since continued my Emergency Management training as I reorient on my path to become an Emergency Manager. A journey even fewer know I began a little over six years ago through the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services through courses mostly disseminated by the California Specialized Training Institute on site at the City of LA's Emergency Management Department.
I currently hold certification for
Disaster Mitigation, Disaster Preparedness
Essentials of Emergency Management, Debris Management,
Disaster Response,
Basic Public Information Office (PIO) and Joint Information Center, Community Planning for Disaster Recovery, Coastal Hazards Awareness, Flooding Hazards: Science & Preparedness, PVE Violent Extremism - First Steps Training, Emergency Operations Center Management and Operations, and EOC/ICS Interface, and EOC Logistics Section.
My first practical yet somewhat indirect use of this training was as a Field Agent during the 2020 Decennial Census wherein I aimed to deliver on mission of Census and do my best to assess various community needs during interviews with LA County residents.
After 2020, I wrote a grant on behalf of an organization to deploy Disaster Recovery Funds via a Technical Assistance Program to assist renters and landlords for a Housing Non Profit in Long Beach in partnership with the City of Long Beach. With the knowledge I had began attaining, I was able to design a successful program for the staff and volunteers and we assisted as many as we had capacity to assist to dissiminate millions in recovery funds to keep renters and landlords both housed and whole during the Covid 19 Pandemic.
I give this brief overview of history and steps ahead to share I have lived through a very unique set of experiences in life and though challenged at times, I will remain steadfast to my grander vision and assure I plan to act when given opportunity to give back to our community.
As I build out my vision, I look forward to sharing what I have cultivated when it is brought to fruition at the proper time. I will most definitely be sharing with the larger community when that time comes.
In closing,
I have some very urgent and critical matters to handle and truly need your support as I do my best to survive this moment and contribute what I can to my family as we finalize homegoing services for my oldest brother at the end of this month.
Funds are needed urgently from this fundraiser for saving my car (ensuring smooth transit to upcoming work), a few other urgent and time sensitive bills which were deferred due to extended loss of car over past few months, some travel costs for family to attend services, and contribution to upcoming homegoing services.
For example, even renewing my driver license or paying my phone bill is a financial burden right now.
I thank you now for your time and support and want you to know that any amount you are able to contribute is both greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten.
