Assistance Needed for Homeless Family
Donation protected
Hello, thanks for taking the time out of your day to read this!
As many of you reading probably know, my family and I are currently homeless and have been living in a motel room for a little over a month now. There are four of us in this room, including a child who is autistic and one cat that we have had for almost 8 years now. A family member that we were living with before suddenly passed away and his separated but not divorced wife decided to sell the house, despite our continuous offers of fixing it up and paying rent. This left us with nowhere else to go. Since we do not have perfect credit and do not make 3x the monthly rent, we have been having a hard time finding a landlord willing to accommodate us. We are on several waiting lists for housing, as well as finally being approved for emergency housing a few weeks ago, but we are still being told that there is nowhere available for us at the moment and we will have to wait longer, and our only other option is the homeless shelter (which is really the last resort for us as we have a child who is autistic and would not handle that environment very well as well as we would have to leave our cat behind in order to be let in).
In this motel room, there is one small mini fridge that does not keep food cold for very long, as well as a microwave that smells like burning plastic every time it is being used and does not heat up the food well. Because of this, we have been relying on DoorDash and Instacart orders to keep us fed. Creating a Go-Fund Me page was the last thing we wanted to do; however, we are currently running low on funds to pay for the motel room and the food. We were using our tax money to pay for the majority of it; however, it is slowly draining out of our accounts now and soon enough we'll have none. Any donation will be greatly appreciated by us and will go directly towards paying for the room or the food. If anyone knows of any landlords who would be willing to accommodate or willing to listen, please send them our way. I know things are tough for everyone right now so thank you for reading this and even just offering your empathy and sharing this link means a lot to us.
