Hi, my name is Arya, I am an Irish trans girl and I started my journey in 2019 I began hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in January 2024, which costs about £450 every three months. Given my pretty much non existent salary due to recent surgery to treat my chronic illness, saving money has been extremely challenging. At this rate, reaching my goal of £35,000 for surgery feels like it will take over a decade. I struggle with severe gender dysphoria, and it’s difficult to imagine a future where I have enough saved. I understand that £34,400 (600 deducted from previous GFM) is a significant amount to ask for, but I want to provide a breakdown of how the funds will be used: • £33,000: Overall cost of the surgery, including pre- and post-operative care. • The remaining funds will support my required monthly medication and cover my time off work for the procedure.
