My Daddy:
March 23, 2022, my Daddy went to the hospital for what we thought was a minor toe infection. Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine that three months later, we would be signing paperwork for hospice services. My Daddy has been in and out of Harlingen Medical Center, Solara, Weslaco Regional Rehab Center, and Sun Valley Rehab all in the span of 3 months. He has fought every step of the way to stay with us and couldn't wait to be back home with our family. Three days ago, after 3 long months of fighting against an impossible battle, my Daddy asked to be placed on comfort measures. Daddy is our world. Anyone that has ever met him knew that he was kind, smart, funny, and loving. He is a dedicated father and teacher. He touched the lives of his students at TMI, Mercedes High School, and South Texas College. He is also a man of great faith and loves his Church (All Saints Episcopal and St Albans). We are utterly heartbroken at this turn of events. There were so many things that we wanted to do as a family; however, we understand that our Lord has his own plan for us.

Timeline:
In March of this year, Daddy was admitted to HMC and had the toes to his left foot amputated. Daddy was released to the care of Sun Valley Rehab; however, his surgical incision did not heal properly and we were back at HMC. Daddy then had another 2 inches of his foot removed, and had a femoral artery bypass to open up circulation. Daddy was then transferred to Solara for infection control and ultimately transferred to Weslaco Regional Rehab for further care. With each new surgery came new infections and a new battle to fight. Daddy came back home to us in June, but 4 short days later, was back at HMC for a worsening infection. Daddy made the conscious choice to pursue comfort measures rather than endure any more surgery. We know how much home and family mean to our Daddy and decided to bring him home so that he is surrounded by love and by family.

Our plea for help
Daddy has been through so much. So has my mother. My mother, my sister, and myself are finding ourselves in new territory, discovering a piling stack of bills and debt. We are heartbroken and overwhelmed. I am not the type to ask for help, but I am asking this help for my mother. She is in so much pain right now. My mother and father have been married for 39 years. They are soulmates in every sense of the word. We know that when our Daddy goes to his final home, he will be taking a large piece of my mom with him. My sister and myself are trying to cover as much of the medical and home debt as we can so that my mother can focus on grieving. If you find it in your heart, we are asking for financial assistance for my mother. Donations are going towards end of life costs for my father and to my mother to help pay off debts and bills that have accumulated over the last three months. If financial assistance is not possible, then we ask for prayers during this difficult time.

In Closing:
We would like to take the time to thank everyone for the continued prayers, calls, visits, and messages. We would also like to thank the medical staff at: Harlingen Medical Center, Solara, Sun Valley Rehab, Weslaco Regional Rehab, VA in Harlingen, San Benito Medical Associates, Kindred Hospice, and everyone else that has assisted my father. He was so appreciative of all the kindness and care that he received
