Last week, Wednesday 1/17/18, Katie went in for her 32 week ultrasound and complications were found. Our baby had fluids around her heart, liver, and abdomen causing a serious condition called 'Hydrops Fetalis'. This was an underlying cause of "something."
Katie was admitted to Univeristy of Cincinnati's Medical Center where extensive testing was performed.
Once testing came back, Clara was diagnosed with Down's Syndrome and the fluids were building up due to a lymphatic issue.
Katie is at about 33 1/2 weeks right now, and they will be keeping her in the hospital until Clara is born. We will then move to the NICU and work through any complications that arise.
Katie and I are in good spirits with all things considered. We are asking for support in the medical bills and lost wages of Katie being in the hospital for the next 6+ weeks. Plus time in the NICU and for whatever complications may arise with little Clara's condition.
Overall, Clara and Katie are both stable and are in some of the best hands they could be. Thank you ahead of time for your love and concern.
