Single mom needs assistance to keep daycare spot

I am fundraising to help my daughter cover the cost of my granddaughter's daycare for July and August 2025.

My daughter is a single mom to a beautiful little girl. She works f/t as a special education assistant with the Surrey School District, but is off during the summer months (July and August).

My daughter surprisingly discovered she was pregnant in June of 2023. She and the father had already been separated for some time and he was non-supportive when he learnt of the pregnancy. She has been on her own with her daughter from day one and receives no child support/parental support from the father.

She returned to work in October 2024. She was very lucky to find a daycare placement for her daughter relatively close to her home and was lucky to be covered through the Affordable Child Care Benefit. Being a first time Mom, and new to the system, she was caught off guard when she had to reapply in May. She just found out on June 9th that as she is off work end of school year (end of June), she is NOT COVERED for subsidy for the months of July and August. She has spoken to her daycare provider and been told that she will have to relinquish her daughter's daycare spot if she can not cover the monthly fee for July and August and that there is no guarantee that the spot would be available for her daughter to return in September as the daycare already has a wait list.

This is obviously causing her a great deal of stress. As a single mom she is already putting every penny into maintaining a home for her and her child. She is moving July 1st as her current home is being sold and her rent will be increasing significantly. She does not have the funds to cover the daycare expense out of her own pocket.

My granddaughter is 19 months old and has been attending this daycare since she was 11 months old. She has a great relationship with the woman whom runs the daycare and has little friends there. My daughter trusts this daycare. She is moving right around the corner from the daycare and will be a 3 minute walk. Finding another daycare is incredibly difficult, especially one that takes the ACCB and would have cost covered for her.

She is going to start looking for work as soon as possible to cover the summer gap, but with limited availability (daytime hours/weekdays only) and no vehicle, finding part-time work is going to be difficult.

I am hoping to raise enough to cover my granddaughter's daycare fees for July and August. Any help is TRULY appreciated!
