Folks, I have had to remove identifying information because the US government can use this information to work against their visa application. I apologize for the confusion.
Our graduate student has been denied access to the US returning from a short trip to Canada, after living in the US for 10 years. On reentry to the US on Monday, the US Border Patrol informed her that her visa had been revoked by the US government, with no reason given. She is in the last semester of her MS degree, and those of us supporting her as an amazing human and as a UM graduate student are asking for assistance for her as she navigates this incredibly difficult situation.
Our graduate student is currently working toward a master’s degree in wildlife biology at the University of Montana. Additionally, as part of the UM Wildlife Biology community, she has been a valuable and supportive colleague. She has assisted fellow graduate students and has connected with and mentored undergraduate students.
She needs to pay for housing and food during her stay in Calgary and Toronto as the process proceeds, as her salary from UM has been cut off during this process. If her basic needs are met, she could also benefit dearly from assistance with legal costs, as they mount into the thousands of dollars. Any assistance you can provide would be amazing.
Thank you so much.

(Her co-advisors and mentors here at UM)
