Hello, my name is Carmen Cruz. My beautiful mother, Maria, who’s been suffering from dementia, just got diagnosed with stage 4 terminal liver cancer on Christmas Eve of 2025. After going to her first oncology appointment, it was advised to us that chemo, radiation, nor a surgery would be in her best interest due to her health. We were told we’d have 3 to 6 months with my mother.

On January 12th, 2026, she had to get readmitted to the ER. What we thought we had months with my mother now has turned into weeks.

Like many of us who are everyday blue-collar workers, trying to make every dollar count, life has been a struggle recently. If I had been blessed with more time with my mother, I would have been able to prepare myself more financially for the end-of-life expenses. Unfortunately, for some of us, children and the cost of life might not allow us to save. I’m asking for assistance with her end-of-life expenses that I will be facing in the coming weeks.
