Update: Wow. In less than 24 hours we have reached our goal. I'm blown away. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I have now turned off donations.
On Thursday 6th November, our Jilly lost her beloved “Big Black Horse” Phoenix to colic.
The bond between Jill and Phoenix was built on patience and respect, where words were replaced by subtle gestures, soft touches, and mutual confidence. Time spent with Phoenix offered peace and purpose—a way to escape the noise of everyday life and connect with something pure and grounding. Whether it was through riding, caring, or simply sharing a moment in the paddock, Phoenix gave Jill not only joy but also a sense of connection and belonging.
Jill is a beloved member of the Phillip Island and horse community. Someone who we go to when we need help, horse (or human) advice, or even just a hug.
Horse owners know all too well that vet care is expensive, but we also understand it’s an essential part of responsible ownership. If you would like to contribute to the costs resulting from this sad event, please donate through this page. Any donations are greatly appreciated, and we thank you for your support.
Thank you to the team at Gippsland Vets for you care and to Neil McCrae (Phillip Island Excavations) who respectfully laid Phoenix in his resting place.
