Fran Scott passed away at Riverside Hospital on December 30th, 2024 due to complications arising from a recent surgery. She was an incredible mother and friend who dedicated 40 years of her life to our community working as a guidance counselor in Newport News Public Schools. My time with Fran was brief, but impactful, and I suspect that was the case for many people who crossed paths with her.

Her son (Heath Scott) and daughter-in-law (Heidi Compton) are incredible community builders, and my hope is for this community to show up and offset some of the financial burden they are carrying.

The visitation will be on Thursday January 9th from 5-6:30pm and her funeral will be Friday January 10th at 10 am. Both events will be held at Chesnut United Methodist Church
