Hello fellow Bluejays and friends . . .
I realize everyone is going through difficult and trying times as a result of these unprecedented events. But one of our fellow Raytown Bluejays has received some devastating news and needs our help. Mari Dahm, who was a 1981 graduate has had a extremely trying 2020 so far.
Unfortunately in February she found out she was diabetic. Only to be followed up by the dreaded COVID-19. Not to be outdone by being furloughed at work. Lastly, followed by the unexpected loss of one of her beloved dogs. Well . . . just when you think things can't get worse . . . they did.
In early May, Mari went to the ER with chest pains and followed that up with an angiogram. Looking for some positive news among all the negative . . . she was blindsided with even more bad news. There was significant blockage in her arteries - 90% in one main artery and 75-80% blockage in three others. Faced with this news, the doctor has insisted on quadruple bypass as soon as possible.
With this said, Mari is scheduled for her surgery June 25. She will be hospitalized for 4-6 days. And, her recovery time is 6-8 weeks. Even though she will be on FMLA through her employer, she will have no source of income during her recovery. Unfortunately Mari's income is mostly supported by the tips she receives as a server.
I am sure Mari has brightened your day once or twice during this pandemic through her quirky posts. Or, made you queasy or laugh out loud through one of her many meme postings. She would NEVER ask for anything... so this is the very reason I am asking for her. All funds would go directly to daily living expenses for her time off work. I know there are many people facing financial challenges right now, so if you are unable to donate I just ask that you keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you my friends! ; )
