Help Me Help The Mescal Family

In life, Scotty Mescal was an advocate for all. He helped grow and support not only the Austin skate / cycling scenes but was on the ground pushing young athletes to be better not only in their sport but as people. He also existed as a friend, confidant and mentor far beyond what most can comprehend. As powerful a presence as Scotty could be, he was vulnerable to life as we all are. He wasn't bullet proof, but was surgical in his ability to contain the wounds and pain he sometimes endured. He wanted to ensure that pain wasn't a shared burden. While noble at it's core, the sole bearer of this type of burden is self defeating to benefit the whole. Scotty helped who he could, when he could and how he could. He was a part of my life for over 20 years.  As life has demonstrated, there are ups, downs and side to sides and I experienced all of them with my friend Scotty as Im sure many of you have. With all that said, his soul was based in love. His love for skating, for music, adults and children alike shined through every day. I have experienced this love a great deal since his passing. I have spoken to more strangers than I could have ever comprehended and each conversation ended with a new friendship. Thats the power Scotty has with people. He brings us together even now in his passing. My humble ask to both my new and long standing friend is simple but will have a profound impact on the Mescal family. As with many, Scotty has no end of life insurance and his family is struggling with not only the grief of his loss but other life burdens that hinder the process of healing. I ask as a favor to all my friends new and old, to please help me offer his family some form of relief. I know many have helped support Scotty in life. I ask alone and of my own accord, for the sake of his family that you help me now. Please know this fund will be donated in full to his family and will hopefully give them a reflection of the reach and scope of love Scotty had in the world. Thank you my friends.
