Help raise money for cremation, memorial, and end of life expenses for Regina Drousche!

My mom is nearing the end of her fight with lung cancer, and other complications.
My family and I are humbly asking for your help to cover some of the medical costs, cremation expenses, a memorial that she deserves and the time away from work needed to care for her. My husband works a full time job and I am currently my mothers caretaker so have had to put my work on hold to help her, so our incomes can only go so far. Every dollar or share of this story means the world to our family. Sincerest thanks.

Full story:
My mom has always been a fighter. She was not delt the best hand in life but has always been an overcomer. Anyone that knows mom, knows she is strong, stubborn, and truly one of a kind. Last year in February 2024 she had a ruptured brain aneurism and by the grace of God she survived but was left with many complications. She had to leave her home in Austin and moved in with me and my husband and kids. I have been her sole caretaker for a little over a year now and It has been the hardest year of my life. After her aneurysm she was temporarily paralyzed on her right side and had a lot of trouble eating. She got down to 72 lbs and had a peg tube placed for nutrition because she was not able to eat on her own. My mother has always been so strong and didn’t let that stop her. After many months of rehab, she slowly regained her mobility back and started to improve. We were able to get her peg tube removed and with a lot of physical therapy, love and support, she was getting stronger, putting on weight, able to walk more, things seemed to be going in the right direction. Just when we thought things were getting better, once again we were struck by some very unexpected news. in December 2024 she was scheduled to have a partial hip replacement surgery. We had to have some pre op clearances done, blood work and xrays and to check to make sure her lungs were strong enough to be put under anesthesia for the procedure. That’s when we got the news that changed everything! She had several lung nodules in her Left, right, upper and lower lobes of her lungs. In March of this year, after a needle biopsy and PET scan, It was confirmed that she had stage 4 lung cancer. There were treatment options available, but because of her poor health and very low body weight, we were told that she would not qualify for chemo because she just wasn’t strong enough yet for for her body to endure it. The other option was radiation treatment which wouldn’t benefit her much because there were several tumors and they would only target the largest tumor. My mother did not want to pursue treatment. She had come to terms with the fact that the disease was going to take her and she would let it run its course until God called her home. Even as her body failed her, her spirit remained strong and pushed through the pain and challenges. At that time the doctors estimated she would have probably 3-8 months to live. As you can imagine, our family was devastated by this news. It didn’t take long, things have progressed quickly. She was sent home from the hospital last month on Hospice. It’s been about 4 weeks now, and despite my mom fighting with everything she had, she has declined quickly. She has stopped eating, she is on a lot of medications to keep her comfortable but I know her days are numbered and her hospice team has shifted their focus towards end of life care and making my her comfortable in the time she has left.
It has been incredibly hard to see my mom go from being such a strong, independent woman to someone who has to rely on us for her every need. As we come to terms with her passing, we are faced with the difficult task of arranging her final farewell. We want to give her the dignified and heartfelt send-off she deserve, but unfortunately, the financial burden of all the expenses is overwhelming for our family during this already challenging time.

Funds raised will be used to cover:
Cremation and memorial costs, travel expenses to have her memorial in Austin (her wishes), and household expenses. Your donations will also cover missed pay from not being able to work while navigating this, and all the other unexpected costs that will come up along the way. My priority is to make sure my mom has the best possible last days of her life, gets the opportunity to cross some things off her bucket list with her family, and most of all, that she feels loved and not alone.

Any amount, no matter how small, will make a difference. If you are unable to contribute financially, we kindly ask that you share this fundraiser with your network and keep Regina and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Once she fully departs from this world, she will be survived by her 3 children, Sara (me, 36) Sean (39), and Shannon (43), as well as 5 grandchildren, and her sister, Donna.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love, generosity, and kindness during this incredibly difficult time. Let’s come together to show my mom that she is not alone!

With immense gratitude,
Sara Molina and family
