I have never had an issue raising money for community projects or something related to creativity. When it comes to seeking support for myself, that’s a different story.

My story is simple.

I am on a journey to join the 1% of African American male psychologists in the United States. Out of all practicing psychologists, only 4% are African American.

Throughout this process, I continuously manage imposter syndrome, anxiety, stress, microaggressions, survivor guilt, and uncertainty. At times, it has dramatically impacted my academic focus and performance; much of this is related to the uncertainty of paying for school.

As I write this, I am nearing the finish line to my 2nd year, 1st semester. I will receive my Masters Degree (subsequently become licensed) and my Ph.D. by 2026.

None of this can happen if I can’t pay my tuition and register for courses. It really sucks doing so well in my program, despite natural challenges, and having to focus on financial roadblocks. Unfortunately, financial aid did not fully cover my tuition and I was not accepted into a fully funded program. I didn’t want any of this to deter me.

Despite my academic career, I have served my community in myriad ways. I sought to further my education to assist my community with their well-being, specifically attuned to the inner-city African American male youth.

I can write on and on about my passion for this work and these communities. I am sure you don’t want to read a paper on the topic.

I will remain transparent throughout this entire process. Providing screenshots of paid tuition statements, updates on grants/scholarships, and more. I am willing to show my grades to prove I am serious about finishing my program. I am also able to do interviews to discuss goals/interests.

I am open to bookings for speaking engagements, scholarships, grant applications, and any other resources that can assist with reducing and addressing the need.
