Supporting Lyle Vielma with Clubfoot Medical Costs
Lyle Juan Vielma was born on January 26th, 2021 with a clubfoot and multiple missing toes. This has caused many complications for the doctors attempting to correct his clubfoot, since his foot is missing many bones, resulting in it being very small compared to standard clubfoot cases. Lyle is an incredibly special little guy to my whole family. His parents, Mike and Jordan, have been the most amazing parents to him and have given him all the love in the world.
With complications come additional costs and stresses. Constant trips to Toronto's SickKids Hospital, multiple casts & bracing, and more have been challenging for the family to budget for. Surgeries, failed casting attempts, scream-filled nights due to discomfort, and, ultimately, no real tangible improvements in Lyle's treatment story have been some bumps in his journey. Mike and I are determined to do what we can to help change the road ahead for Lyle.
We are running a half marathon together to help raise funds to continue to support Lyle and his multi-year rehabilitation journey. This run means the world to both of us — it is about running together to support Lyle and showing him that anything is possible, and hopefully, making him proud one day of how his dad and uncle did their best to help change his life.
Our 'why' is to show him that with some grit, determination, and hard work, he can overcome any of the obstacles that come his way. We hope this inspires him to be able to do something for a cause close to his heart when he is older.
There are many things in life that you cannot control. However, we believe in focusing on the things you can control, and supporting Lyle and our family is one of them.
If you would like to directly contribute to helping ensure that Ly-guy can receive the care he needs to be able to hit his major milestones that can often be taken for granted — his first steps, learning to walk and run, and all the other joys we look forward to him getting to experience, donation to this GoFundMe would be amazing.
If you would like to contribute to SickKids Hospital and all of the wonderful work they do for so many children and families, please follow this link to the Lyle Half Marathon donation page: SickKids Fundraiser
Thank you to everyone who donates and shares either fundraiser. It means the world to us. Thank you to everyone who has been there since day one, helping Lyle, giving their time, lending a hand, or sending supportive messages. It has never gone unnoticed and we are so appreciative. Finally, thank you to everyone who will come into his life and help shape him into an incredible human — we look forward to being there with you and him every clubfoot step of the way.
Love, Mike and Ryan
