After experiencing health issues, our mom was taken to the emergency room on Christmas Eve, initially suspected to have the flu, but it was later determined that she was suffering from double pneumonia and required urgent oxygen support. She was admitted to the hospital within hours for treatment. On Christmas night, her condition worsened, and she was transferred to the ICU. Shortly after her arrival in the ICU, she was intubated and placed on a ventilator, requiring 100% oxygen to breathe. She remained in intensive care for a challenging three weeks, during which she fought to regain her ability to breathe independently. During this period, her family and close friends provided constant support to ensure she received the care she needed.
Fortunately, just hours before scheduling a tracheostomy, our mom was able to be taken off the ventilator, proving to the doctors, who had given her less than a 50% chance of recovery, that she could breathe on her own with some assistance from oxygen through a nasal cannula. We are extremely grateful for the wonderful family and friends in her life who have shown their care through well-wishes and prayers. We truly believe in the power of prayer. Thank you God.
After a few additional days in the hospital following her ICU stay, our mom was transferred to an acute health care facility to begin physical and occupational therapy, aimed at restoring her strength after her extended illness. Currently, she has a daily copay of $106.00 for her stay at this facility, and we are reaching out to our community in hopes of receiving any small donations to assist with her expenses as mom is currently unable to work and has been hospitalized for the past month.
We deeply appreciate all the love and support our family has received throughout this challenging time. Thank you in advance for any contributions, and we kindly ask you to continue keeping our mom in your thoughts and prayers as she faces this significant challenge. We are grateful from the bottom of our hearts for all your support. This woman is truly one of the strongest individuals we know, and her resilience and determination to fight, we are confident that she will feel better soon.
