Assist with Joseph Spellman Sr.'s Funeral Expenses

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joseph Vincent Spellman Sr., affectionately known as

"Gramps," who peacefully left us on April 26, 2025, at the age of 67, surrounded by his three sons. Born on March 26, 1958, in Rockville Centre, New York, to John

A. Spellman Jr. and Therese Spellman, Joseph was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.

Joseph graduated from East Meadow High School in 1976 and served his country as a Security Police Airman in the United States Air Force from 1976 to

1977. He spent most of his life in Venice, Florida, after relocating there in 1989, where he became a beloved member of the community.

For over 30 years, Joseph worked as an Auto Body Technician and owned his own business, Diamond Shine Auto Painting and Collision Repair. His skill, work ethic, and dedication to his craft earned him the respect of his peers and the local community.

Above all, Joseph was a family man. His three sons-Joseph Spellman Jr., Dallas Spellman, and Matthew Spellman—were the center of his world, and his role as "Gramps" was one of the greatest joys of his life. He cherished the time spent with his eight grandchildren, and his love for his family was boundless. His warmth, sense of humor, his love of cheetos, and strong work ethic will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Joseph is survived by his sons, Joseph Spellman Jr., Dallas Spellman, and Matthew Spellman; his eight beloved grandchildren; his older brother, John A Spellman Ill; his nieces, nephews; and many dear friends.

Memorial service at Farley's funeral home in Venice, from 12-2 pm, Thursday, May 1.

A celebration of Joseph's life will be held at Venice Garden Civic Center from 5-8 pm where family and friends will gather to honor his memory dressed as Joe.

In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a gofund me to help offset funeral cost.
