I first send thanks for opening your mind and heart to read this message. My name is Anthony Walker, a 22-year old currently residing in Compton, California. I come to you all with complete transparency in my need for escape, and freedom, from my home environment. I currently live with my family who is unaccepting of my career in makeup, the expression of self through that art, and my gender identity. Members of this household have called me slurs in relation to my sexuality, directed rape jokes towards me, and physically attacked me on multiple occasions. I have been kicked out once before for months, at the age of 18-year-old only two months graduated from high school, then forced to move back in, and fear that it may happen again as my ability to live in the home has been consistently held over my head. Beginning to phrase the extremity in which navigating these things mentally has taxed me, as well and find stable footing, is near immeasurable; yet still, throughout these tribulations, I have managed to scratch the surface of a glorious and flourishing career within the make-up industry; however, I am currently unable to muster the necessary funds to begin this next step in freedom and security for myself. Attached below is a detailed plan of my budget for the fundraiser, the allocation of funds, and will be providing consistent updates on the status of housing, employment opportunities in the field, and safety.
